Privacy Policy

There is no account to create and nothing to sell. Here is precisely what is collected and why.

Who we are

Penny & Pick (this website) is owned and operated by MadGrey LLC, the data controller for the purposes of this policy. For any privacy question or request, contact contact@pennyandpick.com.

This policy covers this website only. It does not cover Amazon or any other retailer you reach by clicking a link here - those sites have their own policies, which govern what they collect once you arrive.

The short version

We do not sell or share your personal information. There is no account system, no advertising network on this site, and no retargeting pixel. We do not build profiles of readers and we do not run an ad business.

What we do collect is standard, aggregate website analytics so we can see which pages are useful, plus whatever you voluntarily type into the contact form.

Information you give us voluntarily

The contact form asks for your name, email address, an optional phone number and your message. That is used for one purpose: to read and reply to what you sent. It is delivered to our own email inbox and is not added to any marketing list, because we do not operate one.

The form includes two anti-spam measures: a hidden field that real people never fill in, and a timestamp of when the page loaded, used to reject submissions made in milliseconds by automated scripts. Neither identifies you, and neither is retained after the message is processed.

Contact messages are retained in our email for as long as is useful for correspondence and record-keeping, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time.

Information collected automatically

Like essentially every website, our hosting provider processes technical request data - IP address, browser type, requested page, timestamp - in order to serve pages and to protect against abuse. This is standard server logging and is not used to identify individuals.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic: which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from, and which links get clicked. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes data as described in Google's own privacy documentation. IP addresses are anonymized by Google Analytics 4 by default and we do not enable any advertising or remarketing features in the property.

We do track which outbound product links get clicked, as an aggregate count. That tells us which recommendations readers find useful. It is not tied to an identity and we never see what you went on to buy.

Cookies

We set no cookies of our own for advertising, profiling or tracking you across sites.

Cookies on this site come from two sources. Google Analytics sets analytics cookies as described above. Separately, when you click through to a retailer, that retailer may set its own cookie to attribute the referral - this is how affiliate programs work and it operates on the retailer's domain, under the retailer's policy, not ours.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your ability to read anything here; nothing on this site is gated.

Product links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one, the destination retailer is told the referral came from us, and if you buy something we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The full arrangement is on the affiliate disclosure page.

We receive aggregate commission reporting from the retailer's affiliate program. We never receive your name, your address, your payment details or the contents of your order.

Children

This site is a consumer buying guide intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the contact form, email us and we will delete it.

Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom (GDPR): you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. Our lawful basis is legitimate interest for aggregate analytics and site security, and consent for correspondence you initiate by writing to us.

If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, so there is nothing to opt out of - but the right to know and to delete apply and we honor them.

To exercise any of these, email contact@pennyandpick.com. We will respond within 30 days. We do not charge for a request and we will not treat you differently for making one.

Third parties we rely on

We keep this list short deliberately, because every additional service is another place your data goes.

Vercel hosts the site and processes request logs. Google Analytics provides aggregate traffic measurement. Microsoft Azure / Microsoft Graph delivers contact-form messages to our inbox. Amazon Associates and any other affiliate program we join process referral attribution on their own platforms.

Each of these is an independent company with its own privacy policy, and each processes only what is needed for its function.

Security and changes

The site is served over HTTPS throughout. We hold no payment data and no passwords, because there is nothing on this site to pay for or log into - which removes the two most sensitive categories of data entirely.

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means the updated policy applies.

Common questions

+Do you sell my data?

No. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not operate an advertising business. The only commercial relationship on this site is affiliate commission from retailers, which involves no personal data about you.

+Do I have to accept cookies to read the site?

No. Nothing here is gated and blocking cookies in your browser does not affect your access to any page.

+Can I ask you to delete my contact message?

Yes. Email contact@pennyandpick.com and we will delete the correspondence. We respond to requests within 30 days and there is no charge.
