Best Air Fryer Under $50 (October 2026)

One of the few appliance categories where $50 genuinely works. You lose capacity and coating life, not cooking ability.

Deepfryer

The short answer

A compact air fryer under $50 cooks exactly as well as a $100 one - it just holds less food and the basket coating will not last as long. For one or two people, the Cosori Mini and similar 2-3 quart units are the correct size, not a compromise.

Disclosure: we earn commission on qualifying purchases made through the links below, at no extra cost to you. It never changes the order of our picks - here is how that works.

What you actually give up at $50

Three things, and only three.

Capacity. Under $50 you are buying 2-4 quarts, which is one to two portions cooked in a proper single layer. Batch cooking a family meal in a small air fryer defeats the point of the appliance.

Coating durability. Budget baskets use thinner standard nonstick rather than ceramic, and it degrades faster. Expect two to three years rather than four to five, and hand-washing extends it more than it does on expensive models.

Noise and controls. Cheaper fans are louder and dial controls replace digital presets. Neither affects the food.

What you do not give up is cooking performance. The convection physics is identical, the temperatures are the same, and a chicken thigh cooks the same way in a $45 air fryer as a $200 one. That makes this one of the strongest $50 categories on the site.

1. Best overall

Cosori 2.1-Qt Mini

The right size for one or two people, from a brand that builds properly.

Cosori 2.1-Qt Mini - Deepfryer
  • 2.1-quart
  • Fast preheat
  • Compact
  • Simple controls

This is the most sensible air fryer purchase for a single person or a couple, and it is a better appliance than a 6-quart model used half-empty. It preheats in a couple of minutes, uses less energy, and takes a fraction of the counter space.

Cosori's build quality is a clear step above generic brands at the same price - the basket slides properly, the thermostat is accurate, and the housing does not flex.

The limitation is honest: two portions, not four.

What you give up

Genuinely small - one or two portions. No presets and no window, so you check by pulling the basket.

2. Best for small kitchens

Dash Compact Air Fryer

The smallest footprint here, and it looks like something you want on a counter.

Dash Compact Air Fryer - Deepfryer
  • ~2-quart
  • Dial controls
  • Very small footprint
  • Several colors

Dash's compact fryer is aimed squarely at kitchens where counter space is the scarce resource - a studio apartment, a dorm, an office kitchen. It is physically tiny and the styling is deliberately more attractive than the usual black plastic box.

Dial controls for time and temperature, nothing else. For an appliance you use to reheat and crisp, that is all that is required.

Treat it as a two-portion appliance at most.

What you give up

Smallest capacity here by a clear margin, and the plastic housing feels light. Thin nonstick coating.

3. Best capacity under $50

Chefman TurboFry 3.6-Qt

Nearly family-sized, at a genuinely cheap price.

Chefman TurboFry 3.6-Qt - Deepfryer
  • 3.6-quart
  • Dial controls
  • Dishwasher-safe basket
  • Low price

If you want the most basket for under $50, this is it. At 3.6 quarts it is close to a three-person capacity, which is unusual at this price.

The compromises are where you would expect: a louder fan, a thermostat that runs a little hot in our reading of owner reports, and a thin nonstick coating that will need careful treatment.

For a household of three that wants an air fryer and does not want to spend $90, it is the sensible answer.

What you give up

Loud fan, and the basket coating is the thinnest of these picks. Owners commonly report it runs slightly hot - reduce temperature by about 10 degrees from recipe suggestions.

4. Best cheapest option

Bella 2-Qt Air Fryer

The lowest price here that still works properly.

Bella 2-Qt Air Fryer - Deepfryer
  • 2-quart
  • Dial controls
  • Basic build
  • Very low price

There is a floor below which air fryers stop being worth buying, and Bella sits just above it. It heats, it crisps and it holds a temperature. The housing is light, the fan is loud and the coating will not last five years.

For a second home, a student kitchen or finding out whether you will actually use an air fryer before committing, it does the job for very little.

Below this price point, you are into unbranded units with no support and inconsistent thermostats, which we would not recommend.

What you give up

The lightest build here, a loud fan and the shortest expected coating life. Fine as an entry point, not as a long-term appliance.

When to spend more

If you cook for three or more people, go to the $100 tier. That is the one genuine reason, and it is about capacity rather than quality - a 6-quart basket with a ceramic coating is a different appliance for a different household, not a better version of the same one.

The second reason is the coating. If you intend to use the air fryer four times a week for five years, the ceramic basket at $90 is a real durability upgrade over the thin nonstick at $45.

Everything else - the cooking, the temperature range, the result on the plate - is the same.

Also worth $50 elsewhere

The $50 tier is strongest in grooming and kitchen. A chef's knife under $50 or a rice cooker under $50 are both products at their functional ceiling at this price. The best things under $50 has the full list.

How we picked

Every pick on this page is a real, currently-sold product that we could find at or under $50 at the time of the last update. Rank order is set before any link is attached.

We are research-led, not lab-led. We do not run a test lab and we do not claim to have personally used every product on this site. Picks come from manufacturer specifications, owner-reported reliability and failure patterns, expert-publication consensus, and real availability at the stated price ceiling. Read the full method.

Common questions

+Is a $50 air fryer good enough?

For one or two people, yes - it cooks identically to a $100 model and the only differences are capacity, coating durability and noise. For a family of four it is too small, and that is a capacity problem rather than a quality one.

+What size air fryer is right for two people?

Two to four quarts. Food only crisps properly in a single layer, so the useful capacity is about 60% of the quoted number. A 2-quart basket comfortably handles two portions of fries or four chicken thighs.

+Do cheap air fryers run hot?

Some do. Budget thermostats are less precisely calibrated, and owners of several models report food cooking faster than recipes suggest. The practical fix is to check early the first few times and adjust temperature down about 10 degrees if needed.

+Will the basket coating fail quickly?

Faster than on a ceramic-coated model, yes - expect two to three years of regular use. Hand-washing rather than using the dishwasher roughly doubles it, and avoiding metal utensils matters more than anything else.

+Is it worth buying an air fryer at all if I have an oven?

The genuine advantages are speed - no long preheat - and energy use for small quantities. The results on a convection oven setting are very similar. If your oven has a convection fan and you cook in large batches, an air fryer adds less than people expect.
