Best Air Fryer Under $100 (October 2026)

An air fryer is a small convection oven. That is not a criticism - it is why the $90 one does the same job as the $250 one.

Airfryer Convert

The short answer

The Cosori TurboBlaze 6-quart is the best air fryer under $100: genuine family capacity, a fast fan and a ceramic coating rather than a thin nonstick. If you cook for one or two, a 4-quart model costs less and heats faster, and nothing is lost.

Why air fryers are solved at this price

An air fryer is a small, well-sealed convection oven with a fan fast enough to move hot air through a perforated basket. There is no complicated engineering in that, and there has not been for a long time. A $90 unit and a $250 unit cook identically because they are doing identical physics.

What the extra money actually buys is a quieter fan, a better-sealing basket, a control panel that is easier to understand, and - the only one that matters long-term - a more durable basket coating. Those are comfort and longevity improvements, not cooking improvements. Nothing comes out better.

So the honest way to shop this category is on capacity, coating and noise, and to ignore almost everything on the box.

The two specs that actually matter, and the one that does not

Usable capacity, not stated capacity. Air fryer capacity is measured as the total basket volume, but food only cooks properly in a single layer. A 5.5-quart basket that is tall and narrow holds the same single layer of fries as a 4-quart that is wide and shallow. Look at the basket's footprint rather than its quoted volume, and assume the number on the box is roughly 60% of what you can usefully cook at once.

Coating type. Standard nonstick on a cheap basket is the number one failure point in this category - it degrades, flakes and loses its release within a couple of years, especially if dishwashered. Ceramic coatings hold up noticeably better, and models advertising PFAS-free ceramic are worth the small premium.

Wattage is the spec that does not matter. It is marketed because it is a big number that is cheap to increase. A higher-wattage unit with a small basket cooks less food, not better food. Preheat time differences between models are under two minutes.

  • Buy for basket footprint, not quoted quarts.
  • Prefer ceramic over standard nonstick - it is the part that fails.
  • Hand-wash the basket. It roughly doubles the coating's life, and it is free.

1. Best overall

Cosori TurboBlaze 6-Qt

Family capacity, a fast fan and a ceramic coating that lasts.

Cosori TurboBlaze 6-Qt - Airfryer Convert
  • 6-quart basket
  • High-speed fan
  • PFAS-free ceramic
  • 9 functions

The TurboBlaze is the pick for most households. The basket is genuinely wide rather than tall, so a full single layer of fries or wings actually fits, and the high-speed fan means you get even browning without shaking halfway through as often.

The ceramic coating is the reason it ranks first. Standard nonstick is the component that ends most air fryers' useful lives, and a ceramic basket survives meaningfully longer - particularly if you hand-wash it.

The control panel is one of the clearer ones in this category, which sounds trivial and is the difference between using the preset functions and ignoring them.

What you give up

It is physically large and takes up real counter space. The fan is audible - noticeably louder than a quiet premium model.

2. Best for checking on food

Instant Vortex Plus 6-Qt

A window in the basket, which turns out to matter.

Instant Vortex Plus 6-Qt - Airfryer Convert
  • 6-quart
  • ClearCook window
  • EvenCrisp
  • Even heating

The window in the Vortex Plus's basket sounds like a gimmick and changes how you cook. Air frying rewards checking food frequently, and every time you pull a solid basket out you lose heat and restart the cycle. Looking through a window costs nothing.

Instant's heating is even across the basket, which means less shaking and fewer pale patches in the corners.

It is the same capacity class as the Cosori and sits at the top of the price tier.

What you give up

Standard nonstick rather than ceramic, so the coating is the limiting factor on its life. Often sits right at the $100 ceiling.

3. Best for one or two people

Cosori 2.1-Qt Mini

Heats faster, takes less counter, costs half.

Cosori 2.1-Qt Mini - Airfryer Convert
  • 2.1-quart
  • Compact footprint
  • Fast preheat
  • Simple controls

Most people buy an air fryer that is too big, because capacity is the number on the box. If you cook for one or two, a small unit preheats faster, uses less energy, takes far less counter space and costs roughly half.

The limitation is real: you cannot cook for four in it, and batch cooking defeats the convenience.

For a single person, a couple, a dorm or an office, this is the correct size and the larger models are just a bigger object doing the same job.

What you give up

Genuinely too small for a family - two portions maximum. No presets worth using, which is fine since presets are mostly decorative anyway.

4. Best crisping

Ninja AF101 4-Qt

The best-browning basket in the category, when you catch it under $100.

Ninja AF101 4-Qt - Airfryer Convert
  • 4-quart
  • Ceramic-coated basket
  • Max Crisp
  • Dishwasher safe parts

Ninja's AF101 has been a standing recommendation for years and still produces the most convincing crisp of anything in this bracket - the combination of fan speed and basket geometry browns more evenly than its competitors.

At 4 quarts it is a two-to-three-person size rather than a family one, which is the main thing to check before buying.

Pricing has moved around: it has drifted above $100 at list and returns under it regularly on sale. Worth watching rather than paying list for.

What you give up

Frequently above $100 at list price, so this one requires timing. 4 quarts is small for a family of four.

5. Best value

Chefman TurboFry

Does the job for well under the ceiling.

Chefman TurboFry - Airfryer Convert
  • Various sizes
  • Simple dial controls
  • Low price
  • Dishwasher-safe basket

Chefman's TurboFry range is the sensible answer if you want an air fryer and do not want to think about air fryers. Dial controls rather than a touch panel, a basket that does the job, and a price well under the tier.

Build quality is plainly a step below the Cosori and Ninja - more plastic, a louder fan, a less precise thermostat - and none of that changes whether your fries crisp.

For a first air fryer, a second home or a gift, it is the right amount of money to spend.

What you give up

Noisier, flimsier and with a less accurate thermostat than the pricier picks. Standard nonstick coating that will not last as long.

The best pick under $50

The $50 tier in air fryers is genuinely viable, which is not true in most appliance categories. You lose capacity and coating quality rather than cooking ability, which is a reasonable trade for a small household.

Air fryers under $50 covers it, and the honest summary is that a small $45 air fryer cooks the same food as a $90 one, in smaller quantities, with a coating that will not last as long.

When to spend more

Two reasons, and neither is cooking performance.

A dual-basket model lets you cook two things at different temperatures simultaneously, which genuinely changes how you use the appliance for a family meal. Those start above this tier.

A quieter fan and better build matter if the air fryer lives on a counter in an open-plan room. Cheap units are loud enough to interrupt a conversation.

What you will not get for more money is better food. If you are looking to spend $150 in the kitchen, a knife set under $100 plus a cheap air fryer will improve more of your cooking than one expensive air fryer.

Also worth $100 elsewhere

If the kitchen is already covered, the other categories where $100 lands well are tech and grooming - wireless earbuds under $100 and electric shavers under $100. The full tier is at the best things under $100.

Common questions

+Is a cheap air fryer as good as an expensive one?

For cooking, essentially yes - it is the same convection physics in the same size box. What the expensive one buys is a quieter fan, a more durable basket coating and better controls. None of those change how the food comes out.

+What size air fryer do I need?

Roughly 2-3 quarts for one or two people, 5-6 quarts for a family of four. Remember that food only cooks properly in a single layer, so basket footprint matters more than quoted volume - assume about 60% of the stated capacity is usable at once.

+How long does an air fryer last?

Three to five years typically, and the nonstick basket coating almost always fails before the heating element does. Hand-washing the basket rather than putting it in the dishwasher is the single biggest thing that extends it.

+Does wattage matter in an air fryer?

Barely. It is marketed because it is an easy number to increase. A higher-wattage unit with a small basket cooks less food, not better food, and preheat differences between models are under two minutes.

+Can you put the basket in the dishwasher?

Most are labeled dishwasher-safe, and doing it repeatedly is the fastest way to destroy the coating. Detergent and high heat degrade nonstick far more aggressively than hand-washing. If you want the basket to last, wash it by hand.
